The Global Society of Tigrai Scholars (GSTS, http://scholars4tigrai.org/) is a legally registered non-partisan society of Tigrai scholars, established with the broad aim of building a knowledge-based economy and Society in Tigrai and beyond. The society has more than 2,300 registered scholars. GSTS works closely with the Tigrai regional national government, Tigrai based universities (namely Mekelle University, Aksum University, Adigrat University, and Raya University), the Tigrai Institute for Policy Studies (TIPS), and several other stakeholders and strategic partners.
GSTS is opening its headquarters in Mekelle to facilitate its overall activities, and we are looking for a strong office manager to manage the day-to-day operations of the office in a smooth and efficient manner. Reporting directly to the President of GSTS, the office manager provides executive, administrative, and planning support to GSTS. The office manager serves as a contact person for internal and external constituencies on matters pertaining to GSTS; organizes and coordinates executive outreach and external relations; and oversees special projects, manages other logistics and related works.
I. Key Responsibilities
o Mange, direct, and coordinate the overall day to day work of the office
o Managing the GSTS’s proactive and reactive external communication, and the GSTS website and social media
o Assist with the preparation of the board, management, stakeholders activities, and other necessary entities
o Liaising with stakeholders, including partners, clients, the media, etc. under the supervision/instruction of the president/secretariat
o Officially communicate on behalf of the GSTS as instructed by the president/secretariat
o Develop an annual plan of action for communications and implementation mechanisms
o Design and develop all communications materials including press materials, publications, posters, websites, and photo/audio/video
o Coordinate and facilitate timely communications and events o Assist the president, secretariat, and the board of directors/management committee at large with daily administrative duties related to GSTS and complete a broad array of administrative tasks o Drafts reports, letters of solicitation, proposals; prepares and coordinates oral and written communication for donors and other stakeholders
o Perform any other GSTS related assignment given by the president, secretariat and/or GSTS leadership at large

II. Requirements
o Education: Master’s degree and above with proved business management, computer science, and IT skills
o Knowledge of office administrator responsibilities, systems, and procedures
o Advanced computer literacy skills, including managing emails, setting scheduling tools, etc.
o Expertise with video conference tools like Skype, Google Hangouts, Zoom Video Conferencing, etc.
o Excellent time management skills, and ability to multi-task and prioritize pressing work
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both in Tigrigna and English languages
o Strong organizational and planning skills adaptable with a fast-paced environment
o A creative mind with an ability to recommend improvements and propose innovative strategic plans
o Ability to work independently, good teamwork skills, professional discretion and high level work ethics
o Excellent writing, editing, grammatical, organizational, and research skills
o No conflict of interest with GSTS activities
